


ABOUT
Alex Mayer is an award-winning classical and jazz instrumentalist. He received a degree in Music and Business/Economics at Wheaton College in 2021 on a music and global leadership scholarship. Alex has trained under Grammy-nominated instructors who attended some of best conservatories in the world including: The Julliard School, Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy, Peabody Conservatory, and Harvard University. While studying at Wheaton College, he studied classical piano with Dr. Daniel Horn, who received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate of Music at the Julliard School. He also studied jazz piano with Brad Williams, a grammy-nominated jazz pianist. During his final years at Wheaton, he received project training under Chuck Thomas, who served on the board of the Grammy Awards.
Successful in numerous competitions, Mr. Mayer was a two-time finalist in the Chopin Youth Piano competition. In addition to performing, Mr. Mayer is known for his musical compositions. In 2017, his piece “Freiheit” was selected 1st Place out of 400 entries in the 2017 Gershanov Family Arts & Writing Contest at the Illinois Holocaust Museum. He has composed for short films and in 2018, he had the privilege of collaborating with a composer working under Heitor Pereira’s studio.
When he is not performing or composing music, Alex can be found hiking, spending time with friends, getting involved in the community, looking for new places to travel, or finding good places for food. In October 2016, he received two U.S. Congressional Awards for community service and was selected in the top 2.3% of applicants for the Edman Leadership Award for Global Service.
